Royal Golden Eagles
Very large
eagles of a bronze color, the royal golden
eagle is a rare bird among the rarest of birds. They are found
primarily in large mountain ranges close to water, but there have been
sightings of the creatures on lone mountains and wooded lakes.
The huge eagles measure about 15' in wingspan. They weigh
an amazing 35 pounds and can eat three or four pounds of meat at a
sitting. They attack small mammals and rodents, supplimenting their
diet with fish and carrion.
The Royal Golden Eagles mate for life and rarely leave
their birthplace. Severaln generations of the birds will live in the
same territory until the area becomes over-hunted. Only then will young
couples strike out to find new hunting grounds, which are defended even
from other Royal Golden Eagles from the same family. The newly
discovered territory will then be cleared of all other air-bourne
predators to make room for the couple's progeny.
Though very rarely done, it is possible to befriend the
creatures and perhaps take the bird as a familiar. Most often the bird
refuses to be treated as an underling, preferring to be treated as an
ally. If not commanded and it's freedom is not questioned, the Royal
Golden Eagle can make a formidable ally.

Azmyth
The odd
bat-like azmyth is somewhat of a mystery. It is
drawn to music and to good creatures. It's diet consists of nectar,
insects and sapling plants. It is much like a bat, except that it's
eyes are a pupil-less white and it has a white crest and beard. The
azmyth is an exceptional flyer with a 3 foot wingspan and the ability
to hover in place. The intelligent creature is able to sense alignment
and intentions and uses that ability often to protect itself. They are
solitary in nature and prefer small caves or dark forests in which to
reside. The azmyth is primarily nocturnal, but can be found any time of
the day.
Many good adventurers and wizards keep azmyth, but the
creature is unattainable as a familiar. It does ally with powerful
characters of a good alignment and is able to communicate
telepathically up to 60 feet. They are also able to release several
spell-like effects. The most common of which is their ability to
release a static charge twice a day as part of their normal attack.
Often it is used in conjunction with a stab from their knife-like tail,
otherwise it is released when they bite. They are also able to become
invisible for several minutes a day, create a bubble of silence once a
day and see in the dark up to 90 feet.
